Psycho-Somatic Sexual Therapy Session (PSST) - (90-Minutes)
Whether you’re in a relationship or single; intimacy - both emotional and physical - matters. When it wanes, such loss can cause profound loneliness and disconnection from both self and others.
We often think of intimacy as a physical thing, but it’s deeply emotional at its roots. Any presenting sexual issue, such as lack of feeling/arousal, anorgasmia (difficulty orgasming), erectile dysfunction, p*rn addiction, little or no libido, or a sexuality/gender dysphoria crisis, invariably goes back to the way we experienced love in our formative years. Such affects the way we treat others in non-sexual ways, including the relationships we have with our children, friends, and other family members. How we were treated by parents and caregivers, can create barriers and vulnerabilities which last our whole lives.
Psycho-Somatic Sexual Therapy is a safe, non-touch form of therapy, which seeks to explore:
Your beliefs and preconceptions about love, sex, and sexuality,
How you experienced love as a child and how such informs your adult relationships,
How to identify boundaries and barriers you may have created, and how to re-site them more appropriately to ensure growth and optimum wellbeing,
What internal mini-characters (or ‘inner child’) may feel, and how to integrate the characters who help you, also being able to thank and retire those who are no longer needed,
What your body is holding onto that might be creating a barrier to your pleasure,
How to feel into your somatic (bodily) awareness and shine a light of awareness on what needs to be seen and felt,
Open, trusting, and respectful dialogue about your presenting issues, with informed suggestions and exercises to help you to move towards resolution.
PSST is not medicalised sex therapy; it seeks to empower you as a full person (holistically) and identify root causes to your feelings of disconnection.
Whilst I am trauma-informed and able to work with all forms of trauma, such as serious sexual abuse, lost pregnancies, domestic violence, and significant childhood issues, the aim of this type of work is to bring resolution without causing your nervous system to become re-traumatised. We will work gently, instinctively, and compassionately, listening to what your body needs in each moment. All work is fully clothed, can be facilitated via Zoom or in-person, and involves no physical touch.
It goes without saying that all work is confidential in nature. I am extremely experienced in working with sensitive and challenging cases, so hold no judgment. Please reach out and ask any questions you might have if you are nervous and I’ll do my best to put you at ease and clarify any concerns.
Each session: 75-minutes.
Recommended sessions: initial consultation + between 3-6 sessions.
(I advise having any purely physical issues, such as ED, checked by a medical doctor to rule out physical causes. Further, I have a legal and moral duty to report if there is ongoing risk to a child or vulnerable person, or risk to someone’s life, but I will discuss this with you during any consultation.)
